Discover the joys of prague with our guide to the National Museum
The National Museum in Prague is an imposing building overlooking Wenceslas Square in the centre of the city. The home of an incredible collection of exhibits that document the history of the city and Czech people, a tour of the museum is a popular way to spend a day.
The museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Prague. Price for entry is only around £3 per person. There are frequent special exhibitions throughout the year. Amongst the most popular regular displays are the dinosaurs, and the history of man exhibit. For visitors to Prague, a look around the history of the city is highly recommended.
Another great attraction of the National Museum is the building itself. It was begun in 1818, and took 73 years to complete. It is the largest Czech museum, and is built in a stunning neo-renaissance style. Among the attractions nearby, Wenceslas Square is a popular nightlife centre, and is described as the heart of the city.
The State Opera is in a building close by, and is highly recommended for anyone interested in classical music. The National Assembly was the parliament of Czechoslovakia during communism. It is now the home of Radio Free Europe. You can tour the building if you want, and see the walls of the medieval stock exchange inside.
